Avran Society in the 26th Century

in Society

Introduction

Avran society can be epitomized by Avran cities. Avran cities are divided into different sectors in which people of the same class can mingle and interact with one another. Cross-class interaction remains only on the professional scale, and for the most part an Avran of higher class will not make friends with an Avran of lower class. This stratification plays a defining part in society, a stratification that has been left untouched by the Rosebourg Monarchy.

Avran Architecture Styles

Avran cities are a visual testament to the social division that is codified in Avran society. They also have a tendency, unlike their Navak counterparts, to be simple and utilitarian in their architecture. Avran cities are often divided into quarters that are divided by large stonewalls and keep the various social classes separated from one another

The Role of Tradition and Current Trends

Tradition for the Avrans is considered essential; it is considered dishonourable to not pay respect to one's elders. Family plays an essential role in Avran society, it is important to remain loyal to one's family, one's government, and one's class. The young generation, with their pro-Navak sentiments however, has started to break down some of the class and tradition barriers that have for so long made Avran society unbending.

A Wealthy People

The Avrans are a very wealthy people; even the lower class' wealth is comparable to a Navak middle-class. This economic gap between the Navak and the Avrans have led to redefinitions of foreigners' place in Avran society, a redefinition that continues to cause problems for the Avrans, especially with the arrival of humans.

The result of greater economic opulence has much to do with Avran modesty, Avran societies are less grand as those of the Navaks, and architecture is simple and utilitarian. This, combined with an economy that has been left increasingly open (in comparison to the Navaks who have increasingly taken it under the government's charge), has further enhanced Avran wealth. The Avrans also contribute very little cash and material to the Rosebourg military. They are primarily responsible for the manpower, especially of grounds troops
